Why Afindrafindrao is important for Malagasy people?

     Madagascar is a country where , dance and where one plays dance in all circumstances,  from birth to death.With the Malagasy people dance an important means to communicate emotions, this emotions include happiness, joy and reconciliations. Here in Madagascar the rhythms used in most areas of the island seem totally different from each region or ethnic group;but all ethnic groups use the dance Afindrafindrao. The Afindrafindrao is a local variant of square dancing created in the nineteenth centuries during the reign of the Queen RanavalonaIII . The sense of Afindrafindrao is to dance all by advancing without ever stepping back while holding the partner with both hands.Afindrafindrao is an important dance for the Malagasy people because it is a quintessential Malagasy traditional performed at the beginning of a social event to kick off the festivities and the other dance follow like the Salegy,Bawejy …,in order to liven up the social even.  



     We can do this dance in all festivities in Madagascar because this dance should be to kick off all festivities for the Malagasy people. we know that all regions have his own dance for example the Merina have his own dance it is the same for the Sakalava and it may be the Merina does not know how the Sakalava practice their dance and vice versa. Although the both ethnic group know how to dance Afindrafindrao and they do this dance in the same way.In all regions in Madagascar, the people dance the Afindrafindrao in the same form .This shown that the Afindrafindrao is an important dance for the Malagasy people. We can conclude, the opening dance for the Malagasy people is almost always Afindrafindrao, and all regions do it in the same way,  what I can tell you that Afindrafindrao is the most famous and best knowing traditional dance in Madagascar
